During his new interview, the ‘Feel It Too’ rapper also defends Tyler, the Creator, who founded Camp Flog Gnaw festival, for his decision to put the Canadian star in the close-out spot.
Drake previously made headlines after getting booed off stage by the concert-goers at the 2019 Camp Flog Gnaw festival on Sunday, November 10. Now, Tory Lanez weighed in on the Canadian hip-hop superstar’s bad night during his recent appearance on Real 92.3 in Los Angeles.
Talking about it, Tory said that the reaction was rather unsurprising as the crowd anticipated an unannounced guest Frank Ocean instead of the “God’s Plan” hitmaker. “I think personally if the people weren’t waiting on somebody else in that moment…I don’t think that it would have been that,” he said.
“They were at such a high expectancy to see something and to see somebody at that moment,” the “Feel It Too” rapper continued saying. “Any other crowd, anywhere he goes, people would be ecstatic.”
He also said that Drizzy was cool about the whole thing and that they were joking about it on a text. “We was deadass on a text laughing about it. It was like ‘Boy, you know you had no business being at Camp Flog Gnaw,’ ” he explained.
During the interview, Tory also defended Tyler, the Creator, who founded the festival, for his decision to put Drake in the close-out spot. “It’s still Drake,” Tory said, adding, “Drake is a finishing act.”
Drake did handle the negative reaction he received that night cooly. A day after the incident, he took to his Instagram account to troll the audience at the festival. Alongside a slew photos of him at the festival, including an image of him and Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All‘s Taco, Drake wrote, “Plot twist… just signed a 10 year residency at Camp Flog Gnaw sorry kids see you EVERY SINGLE YEAR till you are 30.”
Many found the post funny, including Kendall Jenner, Ty Dolla $ign, 2 Chainz and Kehlani. “LMFAOOO GET THAT BAGGGGG ON THEM YOUNG WHIPPER SNAPPERS BRO,” YouTuber Tutweezy said, while Halsey quipped, “Season ticket holder.”
